Shogun 2 had several more castle variations added in later patches. What do you base that on? Seasons were added to the main campaign for everyone a few patches after CiG, that's new. But as always those guys in CA/Rome 2 though in to garbage everything previus CA developers made! I expected that CA would use ETW fort upgrade system atleast in Ceasar in Gual campaign. To be fair we must clarify the diferences between a forified camp and a border fort.Ī fortified camp has tents and wooden palisades easy to remove and be re-used in the next day.Ĭamps did not have doors of anykind. The reasson was that if enemy would attempt a night asault they troops that had guard duty (espesialy horsemen) should be able to sally out without any delay!īorder forts (or fortified barracks) started as camps but then changed :ġst : The wooden palisade with wooden walls.Ģnd: Added fully factional wooden towers.Ĥth: Replaced tents with brick made barracks.ĥth: Added permanent water supply INSIDE the camp/fort.Ħth: Replace the wooden walls with brick ones.Ĩth: Replace the wooden towers with brick made ones.ĩth: Add baths and permanet health facillities. The traps, barricades, fire pits, fire balls and caltrops are nice but they dont really do much however i would still love to have them there as part of an improved fort mechanic ! Id like to know what the community thinks on this because personally i really dont like the forts as they are now, way too small with no real defensive value. If CA could also give forts platforms, battlements and towers for my ranged units to stand on then it would be absolutely amazing and would add some immersion and realism to the game.ĬA has also done a wonderful job with releasing music modding tools which does show that they do listen, im sure it wouldn't be too hard to at least make the forts a little bigger with platforms for ranged troops. This feature should also come back with a slight adjustment being that the fort should become damaged over a period of disuse, say 4 turns perhaps ? (if you use a 4tpy mod)Īnd then the fort eventually disappears from the map after that. I also loved how forts disappeared in Rome I if they were left empty for more than a turn. We should also be able to upgrade them, they start of as wooden forts which then upgrade to forts made from wood and reinforced with earth and eventually to stone each with its own additional defenses. What i would like (and im sure many others would too) is for forts to be made bigger, better, something like this I also remember forts from empire where you could have your riflemen man the walls. Now that Rome II has been released and 13 patches later no one can can deny that it is in a considerably better state that what it was released as. Forts were large and when the enemy attacked i felt as if they had attacked our camp. Hey guys, this is a topic which i dont think has been discussed enough and should be bought to the attention of CA.įorts really added something to the game in the original Rome total way, i actually felt as if my troops had set up camp after entering enemy territory and could move out or retreat and maneuver as they willed.
